Oak Grove Elementary School - Home of the Tigers!

Welcome to Oak Grove Elementary. Oak Grove is a suburban elementary school located in Southwest Roanoke County. Oak Grove has a student enrollment of approximately 430 students in grades PreK-5.

Oak Grove has a proud tradition of maintaining high expectations for all students. In 2018-2019, Oak Grove received the Continuous Improvement Award from the Virginia Board of Education for increasing academic achievement of all students in reading and math. Our school also received the Governor's Award for excellence in 2012 and the Distinguished Achievement Award for the 2016-2017 school year.

PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports, is an approach OGE uses to improve and promote positive behavior. PBIS calls on teachers to teach students about behavior, just as they would teach about any other subject—like reading or math. Throughout the school day, students will hear school-wide common language and expectations—in classrooms, at lunch, and on the bus. At the heart of the common language is the Oak Grove Expectations Behavior Matrix. We use the acronym R.O.A.R. as a reminder of how students can be role models for the students around them by Being Respectful, Offering Kindness, Acting Safely, and Being Responsible.

We have a dedicated PTA that continues to partner with our staff to support and enhance instruction by providing additional instructional materials and hosting several fun and engaging after-school activities throughout the year.
